The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Rabboni Parish, Stevenage was born on Sunday 29th May 2005. Prior to this time, Pastor & Deaconess (then Deacon & Sister) Oke started a house fellowship in their new home in Stevenage in obedience to earlier teachings of our General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, that wherever you find yourself in the world, if there was no RCCG parish there, start a house fellowship which would soon mushroom to a parish. This was what our pastors did, and within two months, their living room could no longer contain the number of people trooping in for the fellowship, as people began to sit on the staircase, even spilling over into the kitchen area. It was then suggested that the gathering was more than enough to start a proper church.

Consequently, the regular members were then instructed to look for a venue to start a church. Within a week, St Nicholas Community Centre on 59 Canterbury Way in Stevenage was located. This venue was ideal because it was central to about 80% of the fellowship attendees’ residences. A contract was signed with the authorities of St Nicholas Community Association that manages the centre to hire the venue for Sunday morning services and Wednesday evenings for Digging Deep (Bible Study).

The inaugural service took place in the afternoon of Sunday 29th May 2005. In attendance to launch the parish, aptly named Rabboni (the ‘Master Teacher’ i.e. Jesus Christ) were Pastors Ralph Olurotimi and Oweikumo Eradiri, (the immediate past parents), Pastor Kunle Adetola (Fountain of Life, Welwyn Garden City) and his brother Pastor Demola Adetola from Nigeria, Pastor Ezekiel Bamgbola (Jubilee Parish, now Rehoboth Parish, and many ministers of God.

It is obviously not feasible to mention every pioneering member that started the church through the house fellowship. However, it would be necessary to mention and appreciate key pioneering members that included Pastor & Mrs Akinyemi, Brother Femi and Sister Seyi Duncan, Pastor & Sister Toyin Olamiji, Brother Babatunde & Sister Patricia (of blessed memory) Oyeneye, and of course, Deaconess Joke Oke; that worked tirelessly to ensure the birth of the church.

To the glory of God, RCCG Rabboni parish has given birth to two other parishes in Hertfordshire, Living Spring in Hitchin (formerly called Bethesda parish) in 2008 and Good News in Letchworth in 2012.
